PILAR, Capiz – A new public market is set to rise in Pilar, Mayor Arnold A. Perez announced on Tuesday, January 21, during an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project is scheduled for January 29, 2025, with construction to begin immediately afterward.
Perez said the project had been planned for years to create a larger and more accessible public market for the community.
The new market will cover a floor area of 2,800 square meters and will be built on a six-hectare property owned by the municipal government in Sitio Baluk, Barangay Rosario, located about a kilometer from the municipal hall.
The same property will also house a transport terminal, evacuation center, slaughterhouse, and “Bagsakan” center.
The project has a budget of PHP 100,004,000, which was secured through a loan from the Land Bank of the Philippines.
Perez added that the existing public market will be converted into a public plaza to further serve the community’s needs.
