BACOLOD CITY—Granadianz reclaimed its championship title in the Bacolaodiat Festival Street and Lantern Dance Competition.

The group, representing Barangay Granada, won a cash prize of PHP100,000 and also bagged the Best in Lantern award.

They outperformed four other contingents in the competition, which marked the culmination of the festival’s 20th edition on Feb. 2.

Granadianz has been competing in the event for 16 years, with its last victory in 2023.

Choreographer Joedem Casabuena expressed pride in his team’s perseverance and extended gratitude to their supporters.

In a Facebook post, Barangay Granada Captain Armando Vito praised the group for their achievement.

“Once again, you have proven that Barangay Granada is the sanctuary of hardworking and talented people,” he said.

Last year’s champion, Jojaju, placed first runner-up this year and received PHP80,000. The group also won Best in Costume.

The Luminaries secured second runner-up, taking home PHP60,000.

The competition initially took place along Lacson Street on Feb. 1 as one of the festival’s highlights.

The top three finalists later performed at SM City Bacolod, where the awarding ceremony was held on Feb. 2.

The two other competing groups, Estefania Dance Troupe and CHMSU-Alijis, participated in the event, with CHMSU-Alijis earning the Netizens’ Choice Award.

Meanwhile, Mark Anthony Tronggoy won this year’s Bacolaodiat Snake Emperor and Empress Costume-Making Contest.

Marlo Española and Jordan Parcon placed second and third, respectively.
