Retired Cop Wanted for Libel Surrenders

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A retired Philippine National Police (PNP) officer wanted for cyber libel voluntarily surrendered to authorities on the morning of Feb. 10, 2025, in Poblacion, Jamindan, Capiz.

The suspect, identified only as alias “Elvis,” 57, of Barangay Linambasan, Jamindan, turned himself in at the Jamindan Municipal Police Station after learning that a warrant for his arrest had been issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Esperanza Isabel Poco-Deslate of Branch 19, Roxas City, on Feb. 3, 2025.

He was released after posting P10,000 bail for his temporary liberty.

Meanwhile, police arrested a former barangay tanod wanted for homicide on the same morning in Barangay Lawaan, Roxas City.

The suspect, identified as alias “Manuel,” 35, of Pinesville, Barangay Bato, did not resist when the Roxas City PNP served the warrant issued by RTC Executive Judge Lorencito B. Diaz of Branch 17, Roxas City, on Jan. 7, 2025.

The court set his bail at P100,000 for temporary liberty.

Manuel was accused of killing a man on Aug. 31, 2024, but was released after the lapse of the reglementary detention period. He later went into hiding before police tracked him down and arrested him.
