Two people were killed in a shooting late morning on Feb. 14 in a hinterland village in Alimodian, Iloilo.
Police identified the victims as Rio Agudo, 46, a farmer from Barangay Tabug, Alimodian, and Roquita Dolar, 50, a vegetable vendor from Sitio Tabionan, Barangay Bucari, Leon.
The incident happened in Barangay Tabug, about 23 kilometers from the town proper, at around 11 a.m. but was only reported at 12:15 p.m.
Reports said Agudo was on his way to his farm to tend his carabao when the attack occurred.
Two unidentified men wearing black T-shirts and black bonnets and armed with short firearms followed him and shot him three times.
Agudo sustained a gunshot wound on the left side of his face and died instantly.
Police believe Dolar was hit by a stray bullet, suffering a gunshot wound on the lower right side of her body.
She was rushed to Aleosan District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities suspect that Dolar may have been in Tabug to attend the barangay’s fiesta on Saturday.
An investigation is underway to identify the suspects and determine the motive behind the attack.
