A village official and a minor were arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation on the evening of Feb. 19 in Dumangas, Iloilo.

Alias “Lek-Lek,” 37, a barangay kagawad of Ilaya 2nd, Dumangas, and a male student from Barangay Cansilayan were apprehended in a buy-bust operation in Bolilao village.

Lek-Lek, the primary target, is classified as a high-value individual (HVI), while the minor allegedly served as his accomplice. Authorities had monitored them for nearly a week before the operation.

Police recovered an estimated P61,200 worth of suspected shabu, along with a Yamaha Sniper motorcycle. Reports indicate that the suspects distributed illegal drugs within Dumangas.

Both suspects will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, Colonel Bayani Razalan, Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director, reaffirmed the IPPO’s commitment to enforcing the law impartially.

“Everyone is equal before the law, and enforcement does not favor anyone. We will not hesitate to go after individuals involved in illegal activities, regardless of their position in government. Our campaign against illegal drugs will continue without fear or favor,” Razalan said.
