Jay Campos, a resident of the area, was declared dead on arrival at Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital due to fatal stab and hack wounds inflicted by JR Onopre, also a farmer and resident of Barangay Dinginan.

Police Maj. Lumyaen Lidawan, chief of the Roxas City Police, said they received a report about a man found lying beside the road in Sitio Badiangan, Barangay Dinginan.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim with a blood-stained knife in his right hand.

Campos sustained a hack wound on the head and three stab wounds to the chest.

Police recovered a cap about five feet from the right side of the victim and a 10-inch knife.

A heated argument broke out between the two, escalating into violence.

Marlon Apostol reportedly tried to intervene but was threatened and warned not to interfere.

The Barangay Police Auxiliary Team (BPAT) of Dinginan responded, but the suspect fled in an unknown direction.
