The IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Princesa returns on March 2, offering age-group athletes a shot at qualifying for the 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Marbella, Spain.
The race marks the prestigious endurance event’s comeback to Palawan and serves as a qualifying event for the global championship set for Nov. 8-9. A total of 45 slots will be allocated based on athlete participation in each age group, giving competitors a chance to realize their IRONMAN dreams on the international stage.
Marbella, a premier IRONMAN 70.3 host since 2018, offers a scenic coastal course, rich cultural heritage, and world-class holiday attractions, making it a dream destination for both athletes and their supporters.
With triathletes from 42 countries, the IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Princesa promises an intense battle across a 1.9-kilometer swim, 90-kilometer bike ride, and 21-kilometer run. Age-group competitors will not only compete for top honors but also for the chance to represent their countries at the World Championship.
The event will also feature the Sunrise Sprint, a short-distance triathlon designed for beginners and seasoned athletes.
Meanwhile, the IronKids Swim-Run and Kids Run on March 1 will allow young athletes to showcase their skills. The action-packed weekend will kick off with the Princesa Run on Feb. 28, a women-focused fitness event expected to draw over 300 participants.
Athletes from Australia, New Zealand, China, France, South Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong will compete for podium finishes. Strong contenders from Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Italy, Japan, and the Netherlands could also shake up the leaderboard.
Additional representation from Egypt, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam highlights the event’s international appeal.
