The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Guimaras, through Negosyo Center Sibunag, conducted an Entrepreneurship Seminar on Feb. 26, 2025, for 389 Grade 10 and Grade 12 students of Desiderio C. Gange National High School.
The seminar was part of the school’s BIZPATH EXPO 2025 Career Guidance Advocacy, themed “From Passion to Profit: Shaping Your Future.”
The event aimed to empower students with insights into entrepreneurship, providing career alternatives as they transition from junior to senior high school and college.
The seminar included entrepreneurial mindset training and essential steps in starting a business, awakening their entrepreneurial drive.
The goal was to encourage them to become entrepreneurs, stimulating economic activity in Guimaras by creating jobs rather than seeking employment.
Ms. Jessa Marie P. Tibajares, Senior Business Counselor, discussed upcoming DTI-Guimaras programs and activities.
She encouraged students to participate in initiatives like the Youth Entrepreneurship Program: You can be Your Own Boss (YEP-BYOB), designed to enhance entrepreneurial skills and broaden career opportunities.
Other government agencies, including the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), were also invited.
These agencies discussed their programs and encouraged students to choose fields where they can excel and find contentment.
Representatives from Guimaras Skills Academy Corporation, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, Guimaras State University – Baterna, and Professional Electronics Institute introduced their courses.
The career guidance helped students choose their future paths, reducing the likelihood of wasting time and resources by switching courses.
