BACOLOD CITY – Negros Power and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) collaborated on a large-scale tree-planting activity at the Eco Park in Barangay Felisa, Bacolod City, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
The initiative demonstrated the organizations’ shared commitment to combating climate change and promoting fire safety, according to a press statement from Negros Power released on Tuesday.
With the theme “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa” (In Fire Prevention, You Are Not Alone), the event underscored the importance of environmental conservation in reducing fire risks and building a more resilient community.
“We are acutely aware of the devastating impact of climate change, and we are actively seeking long-term solutions,” said Fire Superintendent Jenny Mae C. Masip, City Fire Marshal.
Masip emphasized that tree planting is a vital step in addressing these challenges and commended Negros Power for its partnership in the endeavor.
More than 200 participants from various institutions and organizations planted 500 narra tree saplings, symbolizing hope and resilience.
Negros Power supported the initiative through its E.A.R.T.H. program (Eco Advocates for Restoration, Transformation, and Harmony), reaffirming its dedication to environmental sustainability.
“Promoting sustainability and advocating for the environment are core priorities for Negros Power,” said Engr. Adrienne Carl S. Calvo, Pollution Control Officer of Negros Power.
“We are proud to participate in this meaningful activity and contribute to a greener, safer future for our community,” Calvo added.
Negros Power and BFP personnel joined forces to make the event a success, further strengthening their partnership in addressing environmental and fire safety challenges.
