The Chery Tiggo Crossovers’ hopes of a quarterfinal qualification in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference are still reachable after sweeping the NXLED Chameleons, 25-22, 26-24, 25-12, during their play-in tournament matchup on March 6, 2025, at the Philsports Arena.
With the lopsided win, Chery Tiggo moved a step closer to a playoff berth and will only need to take care of their business against the Farm Fresh Foxies in their last play-in game to secure a quarterfinal ticket.
The Chameleons fought fire with fire to keep themselves within striking distance in the first two sets but the more experienced Chery Tiggo squad always found a way to pull through in the clutch.
It was their timely middle blocking that helped them survive in the opening set while Ara Galang’s on-point offensive contribution steered them to a 2-0 lead.
After two tightly contested affairs, the Crossovers pulled away for good in the third, taking advantage of a gassed NXLED team who gave their all in the first two sets.
The trio of Galang, Princess Robles, and Shaya Adorador propelled them in the third and spearheaded a massive rally that proved to be the icing on the cake for the Crossovers.
Chery Tiggo sucked the life out of the Chameleons after hosting a demoralizing 11-2 offensive run that proved to be enough for a third-set runaway.
Galang kicked off their insane run with a rolling off-spin spike, while Robles provided three pummeling attacks, backstopped by Adorador’s kill block and down-the-line hit.
Robles picked up where she left off for the Crossovers and led the squad with 15 points built from 14 successful attacks.
The hardworking sophomore also pulled off an all-around performance of nine excellent receptions, seven excellent digs, and a service ace.
Meanwhile, Galang equalized Robles’ offensive tally while adding four excellent receptions. Adorador capped off the trio’s majestic outing with 14 markers and 11 excellent digs.
Chery Tiggo will have ample time of recovery before returning to the PVL court on March 11, 2025, for their final play-in match against Farm Fresh.
