Police in Western Visayas seized PHP 31.38 million worth of shabu in a weeklong anti-drug operation, marking a 166.72% increase from the previous month’s confiscations, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
From March 10 to 16, PRO-6 conducted 94 anti-narcotics operations, resulting in the confiscation of more than 4.6 kilograms of shabu.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) recorded the highest volume of seized illegal drugs, conducting 19 operations that led to the recovery of 3.095 kilograms of shabu worth over PHP 21 million.
This accounted for 67% of the total drug haul in the region.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) carried out 13 operations, seizing 718 grams of shabu valued at PHP 4.88 million.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOcPPO) conducted the most operations at 40 but recovered only 453 grams of shabu worth PHP 3.08 million.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) ranked fourth with 14 operations, confiscating 273 grams of shabu valued at PHP 1.86 million.
The Aklan Police Provincial Office (PPO) carried out two operations, seizing PHP 306,000 worth of shabu.
The Antique PPO followed with three operations, recovering PHP 81,600 worth of shabu.
The Capiz PPO conducted one operation, confiscating PHP 68,000 worth of shabu.
The Guimaras PPO carried out three operations, recovering PHP 47,600 worth of shabu.
During the weeklong operations, 116 individuals were arrested, including 25 high-value individuals (HVIs), 92 street-level pushers, and 16 newly identified drug personalities.
In total, PRO-6 has conducted 87 anti-drug operations this month, seizing over PHP 11 million worth of illegal drugs.
Birada Semana is a weeklong enhanced managing police operation (E-MPO) focused on anti-criminality efforts, including apprehending wanted persons and cracking down on illegal drugs and gambling.
