BACOLOD CITY – A power consumers group here commended the vital role of Negros Power Corp. (NEPC) in driving economic growth and development in the Negros Island Region (NIR).
Power Watch Secretary-General Wennie Sancho, in a press statement provided to Daily Guardian on Friday, said that as a watchdog in the power industry, the group recognizes NEPC’s reliable and efficient service as a distribution utility.
He said NEPC’s consistent delivery of electricity has enabled businesses to operate smoothly, reducing downtime and boosting productivity.
Sancho noted that NEPC’s well-maintained infrastructure and innovative solutions have minimized power outages, ensuring customers receive a stable and uninterrupted power supply.
He added that NEPC’s responsive and courteous customer service has fostered positive relationships with consumers, promoting loyalty and trust.
By providing dependable and efficient electricity, NEPC has improved the overall quality of life for both residential and commercial customers, he said.
Power Watch Negros commended NEPC’s commitment to delivering reliable, efficient, and customer-centric service.
As the “engine of growth” in NIR, NEPC continues to play a key role in shaping the region’s economic future.
Sancho said NEPC has made significant strides in reducing electricity rates, system losses, and energy losses while also improving customer satisfaction.
Residential power rates in Negros Occidental decreased by PHP0.6030 per kWh in March 2025, setting the total rate at PHP13.9595 per kWh.
In October 2024, average residential power rates also dropped due to lower generation charges, with reductions ranging from PHP0.62 to PHP1.63 per kWh.
Negros Power aims to reduce system losses by 70 percent over the next five years.
Significant measures have been implemented to achieve this, including equipment upgrades, the repair of rusty structures, the replacement of old transformers with new and efficient ones, and vegetation clearing to minimize outages.
NEPC’s efforts to improve reliability, reduce outages, and enhance customer satisfaction are having a positive impact, based on Power Watch’s evaluation, Sancho said.
