Two fugitives on Western Visayas’ most wanted list were arrested in separate police operations on the afternoon of April 2 in Calinog, Iloilo.
Police identified the suspects only as alias Vic, 79, of Barangay Simsiman, and alias Elmer, 48, of Barangay Carvasana, both in Calinog.
The two, both accused of rape, were apprehended in Barangay Ilaya.
Vic was arrested around 12:18 p.m. by personnel of the Calinog Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office–Provincial Intelligence Unit (IPPO-PIU) and the 1st and 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Companies.
He was served an arrest warrant for rape by carnal knowledge under Article 266-A (1) in relation to Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code, docketed under Criminal Case No. 25-2472.
Judge Gemalyn Faunillo-Tarol of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 76 in Janiuay, Iloilo issued the warrant on March 26, 2025.
No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
Vic is listed as the fourth most wanted person in Region 6.
Elmer, the region’s third most wanted, was apprehended at around 1:37 p.m.
He is facing five counts of rape by carnal knowledge under Article 266-A (1) in relation to Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code.
The charges are docketed under Criminal Case Nos. 25-2482, 25-2483, 25-2484, 25-2485, and 25-2486.
Assisting Judge Redentor Eugenio Esperanza of RTC Branch 76 in Janiuay issued the arrest warrant on March 17, 2025.
No bail was also recommended for Elmer’s temporary freedom.
Major Myles Dieron, Calinog police chief, said the cases are not connected.
Both complainants are of legal age.
The suspects are now in police custody and will be turned over to the court.
