Maj. Harold Rendora has been administratively relieved as chief of the Pavia Municipal Police Station.
Col. Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, said he ordered Rendora’s relief on Friday, April 4.
Razalan confirmed that the decision stemmed from the April 3 shooting at Parc Regency Iloilo in Barangay Ungka 2, Pavia, which left Wilmer Casquite Villarosa dead.
Villarosa was the stay-in driver of Land Transportation Office Region 6 Director Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan II.
The suspects were identified as brothers Jester, 45, who lives near Geduspan’s residence, and Jessie, a security guard in Clark, Pampanga.
Razalan said a police blotter dated Jan. 20 reported that Jester was seen brandishing a .22-caliber hunting rifle with a scope, a black 9mm pistol and a hand grenade.
Jester allegedly showed the weapons to another man inside their garage on the afternoon of Jan. 18.
“Apparently, Maj. Rendora failed to act on the said report,” Razalan said.
The IPPO’s Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Unit will investigate Rendora’s handling of the incident.
“That’s why he needs to be administratively relieved so that he could not influence the conduct of the investigation,” Razalan said.
If the investigation, supported by the IPPO’s Provincial Intelligence Unit, shows that Rendora was not remiss in his duties, he may be reinstated as Pavia police chief.
In the meantime, he will be reassigned to the IPPO headquarters.
Maj. Dadje Delima, former Pavia police chief and current head of the IPPO Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, will temporarily replace Rendora.
