BACOLOD CITY – A 40-year-old motorcycle rider died after sideswiping a fuel tanker in Barangay Mansilingan on Thursday night.

Police identified the victim as “Anthony,” a resident of Barangay Vista Alegre.

Police Lt. Col. Ramel Sarona, chief of the Bacolod Traffic Enforcement Unit, said the victim was on his way home when he allegedly counterflowed and hit the side of an empty tanker.

Sarona said the rider lost control after failing to notice an approaching vehicle.

He added that the victim suffered fatal head injuries and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

The fuel tanker was driven by a 35-year-old resident of Bago City, Negros Occidental.

Sarona said the driver was released from police custody after reaching a settlement with the victim’s family.
