BACOLOD CITY – A 36-year-old man was stabbed dead Wednesday night after he was allegedly attacked by a family of three in Barangay Taculing during a confrontation over a cattle theft accusation.

The victim was identified as “Ketoy,” a resident of Barangay 40.

Police Capt. Rosalino Pugoy Jr., head of Police Station 6, said the victim confronted one of the suspects for allegedly accusing him of stealing cattle, which led to a heated altercation.

Pugoy said the victim was then mobbed by two siblings and their father, with one of them allegedly stabbing him in the back and hacking his face.

The victim died at a hospital a few minutes later.

Police recovered a knife at the scene but did not find the ax reportedly used in the attack.

Pugoy said they are also investigating the suspects’ mother after a witness claimed she joined the commotion.

Homicide charges are being prepared against the three suspects, who remain at large.

Pugoy said the two siblings previously faced a theft case outside the city.
