The Iloilo provincial government has allocated PHP1.5 million to implement a new ordinance that recognizes and rewards top-performing police stations.
Approved during the 139th regular session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on April 29, Provincial Ordinance No. 2025-338 aims to strengthen law enforcement through performance-based incentives.
The funds will be sourced from the Peace and Order Program under the Office of the Governor, either through the annual or a supplemental budget.
The allocation will cover cash prizes, plaques of recognition, and administrative costs related to the program.
Under the ordinance, police stations will be evaluated and ranked based on their performance.
Top stations will receive financial incentives to support public safety initiatives.
The prize breakdown includes PHP250,000 for the champion, PHP200,000 for the first runner-up, and PHP150,000 for the second runner-up.
Two categories have been set: Category A for cities and first-class municipalities, and Category B for second- to fourth-class municipalities.
Winning police stations must use their prize money for programs aligned with their City or Municipal Public Order and Public Safety (C/MPOPS) and Anti-Drug Abuse Council (C/MADAC) plans.
The ordinance was authored by 2nd District Senior Board Member June Mondejar, sponsored by 4th District Board Member Rolando Distura, and co-sponsored by Vice Governor Christine “Tingting” Garin.
The measure reinforces the province’s commitment to improving law enforcement quality and accountability.
