Over 539,000 Capicenos Set to Vote Today

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A total of 539,459 registered voters in Capiz are expected to head to polling places today, May 12, to elect leaders who will serve for the next three years.

Capiceños will choose between incumbent Gov. Fredenil “Oto” Castro and former Gov. Esteban Evan “Nonoy” Contreras for the province’s top post.

For vice governor, voters will decide between incumbent Vice Gov. James “Mitang” Magbanua and former 2nd District board member Eleuper “Bulilit” Martinez.

In Capiz’s 1st District, the congressional race is between Paolo Roxas, son of former Sen. Mar Roxas, and Pinuno Party-list Rep. Howard Guintu.

In the 2nd District, incumbent Rep. Jane Tan Castro is running unopposed and is assured of reelection.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections said it is 100 percent prepared for today’s midterm elections.

Comelec also released the number of registered voters per locality in Capiz’s 1st and 2nd Districts.
