The Department of Trade and Industry Iloilo, in partnership with the Miagao local government, held its DTI-NC ACTSS (Advocacy Campaign Toward Strengthening Services) on June 30 as part of its Consultancy, Advocacy and Networking (CAN) project at Brgy. Tigmalapad.
Organized by DTI Iloilo and Negosyo Center business counselors, the event aimed to raise awareness about the agency’s programs and deliver services directly to the community.
Lakambini T. Regalado, TIDS and head of the Industry and Business Development Unit, introduced DTI programs and highlighted opportunities in priority industries, including services offered through the Negosyo Center.
Ma. Dorita D. Chavez, CTIDS and chief of the Consumer Protection Unit, discussed consumer rights, responsibilities, and relevant information for local residents.
Hon. Marlou Niones, SB chairman on tourism, shared how Negosyo Center support helped establish and grow the Baraclayan Weavers Association, a key hablon weaving group in Miagao.
Municipal Administrator Percy M. Borro expressed support for the initiative and highlighted the administration’s ongoing efforts, led by Mayor Engr. Oscar “Richard” S. Garin Jr., to expand programs to more barangays.
Tourism Officer Mary Diane N. Flordeliza closed the event by recognizing Tigmalapad and nearby areas as emerging tourism destinations in Miagao.
Punong Barangay Janet Momay welcomed the partnership and expressed eagerness to work with DTI Iloilo and the LGU to improve livelihoods and strengthen the community.
