A Tribute to Our Lady of Sorrows: Lagrimas de Maria Year 4 exhibit unveiled

In commemoration of the upcoming feast of Our Lady of Sorrows on September 15, Cofradia de la Virgen Maria en Panay (CVMP) officially opened Lagrimas de Maria Year 4 exhibit at Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish- Lapaz, Iloilo City on September 5, 2023.

The exhibit’s highlight was unveiling this year’s guest Dolorosa, La Virgen Dolorosa de Murcia, that came all the way from Pampanga to join 21 other revered images of Dolorosas from across Panay and Guimaras.

The official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony were honored by Rev. Fr. Rafael Luis Clavel, Parish Priest of St. Martin de Porres Parish in Layog, Maasin, and Mr. Nonato Sapangila, President of the Birhen sang Barangay Organization.

Also in attendance were Rev. Fr. Joenick Territorio, the CVMP Spiritual Adviser and Parish Priest of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish in Lapaz, Iloilo City, along with the dedicated members of CVMP, led by its President, Dr. Noe Bataga.

The exhibit in its fourth year continues to share the story of Our Lady’s sorrows as she witnessed her Son’s brutal treatment, suffering, and death and how she responded to his suffering. The event encourages everyone to reflect on their own sorrows—whether they come from personal experiences or deep compassion for others.

The exhibit is open to the public until September 16, 2023, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
