Accused of beating wife, farmer nabbed with guns

A farmer was arrested after unlicensed firearms were seized from his possession evening of July 12, 2020 in Pontevedra, Capiz.

Police identified the suspect as Juan Ginoy, 49, a resident of Barangay Binuntucan, Pontevedra.

Authorities went to Ginoy’s house after he allegedly beat his 50-year-old wife.

Barangay Captain Alfonso Dilla Jr. told the police that he received reports of a man creating trouble in the area.

When they responded, they heard pleas for help from the Ginoy household.

Village officials and policemen allegedly saw the suspect beating his wife while holding a homemade 12-gauge shotgun.

When frisked, the suspect yielded a caliber .38 revolver loaded with two ammunition.

Ginoy failed to present valid licenses for his firearms

He is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
