Active COVID cases in WV climb to 16,505

Active COVID-19 cases in Region 6 climbed to 16,505 as infections continue to rise.

Based on data from the Department of Health Western Visayas (DOH-6), new cases recorded in the region ranged from 800 to 1,000 from September 22 to September 26, 2021.

The latest COVID-19 health bulletin released by DOH-6 on Sunday revealed 854 additional cases in Western Visayas.

Negros Occidental logged the highest number of new cases at 302, followed by Iloilo province (194), Bacolod City (132), Capiz (88), Iloilo City (81), Guimaras (26), Aklan (19), and Antique (12).

This brings the total cumulative number of cases in the region to 127,127 with 16,505 total active cases and 2,921 Covid-19 deaths.

The health department also noted an increase in the symptomatic cases detected in the region with more than half of active cases asymptomatic; 42.57 percent with mild symptoms; 3.91 percent with moderate symptoms; 1.92 percent are severe cases and 0.15 percent are critical.

But the number of individuals who recovered from the virus are also increasing.

Region 6 logged over 3,000 recoveries in the past four days from Sept. 22 to Sept. 26, according to DOH-6.

The region recorded an all-time high number of recoveries on Sept. 23 with 1,219 recoveries; Sept. 26 with 1,012 recoveries; Sept. 24 with 868 recoveries; and Sept. 25 with 273 recoveries.

Hence, the total number of recoveries in the region is now at 107,671. (ERS)
