Police Staff Sergeant Nico Galvesolo, the cop involved in gun poking and indiscriminate firing incidents in Iloilo City, will not receive any sympathy from the PNP.

In a statement issued Monday, August 7, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 condemned Galveloso’s alleged acts.

If evidence warrants, criminal and administrative will be filed against him.

“PRO-6 has been known for strict implementation of our internal cleansing program. We have standing guidelines on proper decorum and how to handle and use our issued firearms and the responsibility that goes with it,” the statement said.

The 38-year-old Galveloso turned himself in to a fellow officer after he was accused of poking a handgun at five youngsters and indiscriminately firing his issued firearm in Jaro, Iloilo City evening of August 5.

It was believed that Galvesolo was drunk when the incident happened.

Galvesolo, a resident of Block 5-B, Relocation Site, Barangay Buntatala, Jaro, surrendered to the Iloilo City Police Station 3 around 8:45 a.m. of August 6, more than 12 hours after the incident.

Galvesolo is an organic member of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO)’s General Service Office but is on detailed service to the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 at Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City.

He has yet to report to his PRO-6 assignment since he has just finished his schooling.

Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor, Western Visayas police chief, said Galvesolo’s actions are “considered conduct unbecoming of a police officer.”

Villaflor said he instructed Colonel Joeresty Coronica, ICPO director, to conduct a more thorough investigation of the incident.

“We will not tolerate this kind of attitude within our ranks,” he said.

As the region’s top cop, Villaflor said he’s keen when it comes to implementing the PNP’s internal cleansing efforts, not only against illegal drugs but in all aspects of police service.

“We, in the PRO-6, condemn this kind of act of our personnel. We will make sure that PSSg Galvesolo will face the consequences of his actions. Ginagawa po namin ang lahat para malinis ang aming hanay at mapaalis sa serbisyo ang mga abusado at walang disiplinang pulis. Asahan po ninyo na gagawin namin ang lahat ng nararapat para mapanagot si PSSg Galvesolo at para hindi na pamarisan ng iba,” Villaflor said.
