BACOLOD CITY — The Alternative Indigenous Development Foundation, Inc. (AIDFI), a pioneering organization based in the Philippines, has been named a finalist for the prestigious 2024 .ORG Impact Awards.
The recognition comes from the Public Interest Registry (PIR), the organization behind the .ORG domain, which honors mission-driven organizations for their significant contributions to society.
AIDFI is one of 35 finalists selected from a pool of over 1,700 applications submitted from nearly 90 countries.
The organization is recognized for its work in empowering rural communities through technological innovation, social enterprise, and community development, driving sustainable growth and equity.
“Being recognized as a finalist in this prestigious .ORG Impact Awards shows that the holistic community development work of AIDFI in mostly remote upland areas is highly impactful,” said Auke Idzenga, Co-founder and CEO of AIDFI.
The .ORG Impact Awards, a global program, celebrates exceptional organizations that make a difference in their communities.
AIDFI is a finalist in the Community Building category, one of seven award categories, including Quality Education for All, Environmental Stewardship, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Health and Healing, Hunger and Poverty, and Rising Stars, which highlights leaders under 25 making a difference in their communities.
Winners will be announced at an in-person awards ceremony on October 8, 2024, in Washington, D.C. Each finalist will receive a $2,500 USD donation, with the potential to secure additional donations ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 USD.
The .ORG of the Year, the highest honor, will be awarded a $50,000 USD donation.
Beyond the financial support, this recognition is expected to elevate the profiles of winning organizations, enhancing their ability to attract donations, funding, talent, partnerships, and broaden their audience reach.
