Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson continued to pile up the accolades after being named as the 2024 KIA Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) Most Valuable Player (MVP).

The WNBA announced Wilson’s MVP triumph on September 23, 2024, and added that she has been voted as the unanimous winner of the prestigious trophy.

Wilson received 67 first-place votes from the media committee and collected her third overall WNBA MVP trophy.

The frontcourt star also made history after replicating the feat that Cynthia Cooper clinched way back in 1997 as the only WNBA stars who won the MVP trophy via a unanimous decision.

Wilson’s numbers backed her MVP distinction this year as the hefty leftie averaged 26.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks during the regular season.

Aside from her stellar numbers, Wilson also capped off the pre-playoff stage with a series of records broken, including the single-season scoring by any WNBA player.

Wilson surpassed Jewell Loyd for the record and became the first WNBA player in history to score 1,000 points in a season.

It has been a majestic year for Wilson after also bagging the gold medal in the Paris Olympics, steering the USA National Women’s basketball team to its eighth straight title in the Global Games.

Wilson became the national team’s main gunner during that grand final against the resilient French team, dropping 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Currently, Wilson and the Aces just kicked off their playoff campaign and drew first blood on the Seattle Storm in Game 1 of their post-season matchup.

It was an emphatic come-from-behind win for the Aces after coming back from a double-digit deficit to stun Seattle, 78-67, led by Wilson who tallied 21 points, eight rebounds, five blocks, and two assists.
