The 352 students and 24 faculty members of Aklan State University-Makato Campus in Makato, Aklan may now use the completed covered court built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Aklan District Engineering Office.
District Engineer Noel L. Fuentebella said the multi-purpose building project, amounting to P4.9 million, involves the construction of 16 columns, 8 full truss beams with the area of 945 square meters. The project also includes steel painting and cement plaster finishing.
“This covered court will serve as a venue for various activities like graduations and school-related activities toward academic and social development of students and the school faculty. This may also serve as a rest/waiting area for students and teachers,” Fuentebella said.
In addition, Fuentebella said the covered court may be used as a temporary evacuation center and temporary shelter of the people near the campus during calamities and disasters and other emergency situations. (DPWH-6/RPAIO)
