Expected to lead the rebuilding Alaska Aces squad as the next PBA season approaches, Sonny “The Boss” Thoss announced he is retiring from the PBA.
After 15 stellar years in the league, one of the most skilled and craftiest big men the PBA has ever seen decided to hang up his jersey and will go down as one of the greatest.
Richard Bachmann, the Alaska team governor, confirmed the news and said that Thoss will not join them in the proposed Clark bubble and is ending his career before the 45th season resumes.
Originally, Thoss planned to retire a year earlier but Coach Jeff Cariaso, his friend and mentor, convinced him to stay one more year and help the young team grow.
Thoss bled the red and white since coming into the league after being drafted fifth overall by Alaska during the 2004 PBA draft.
Under his belt, The Boss clinched the PBA championship three times, bagged the 2013 Commissioner’s Cup Finals MVP award, a 12-time All-Star, and was a recipient of the 2011 Sportsmanship Award.
