BACOLOD City – Personnel of Police Station 2 here seized high-powered firearms, ammunition, and illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation at Villa Felicidad, Barangay Estefania last Monday.
The operation also led to the arrest of 31-year-old Kris Poja of Barangay Banago, half-sister of the late Ramy Poja, a top drug suspect of Bacolod who was killed in an anti-illegal drug operation in May 2018.
Kris’s partner, Ronie Gador, 29, of Barangay Banago, who was the target subject of the operation, escaped after noticing that he was transacting with a police agent, according to Police Major Sherlock Gabana, station commander.
Police recovered during the operation seven sachets of suspected shabu weighing nine grams and valued at P61,200; two improvised tooters, a digital weighing scale, two holen guns, an M3 caliber .9mm grease gun, two magazines, a .9mm-caliber handgun with three magazines, 60 live .9mm-caliber ammunition, a tear gas, a brass knuckle, and other paraphernalia.
Gabana said the couple is considered to be remnants of Poha’s drug group. Both are high value individuals who are temporarily staying in a hut at the village, he added.
Gabana said Gador reportedly owns the firearms as protection in their illegal activity. He will be charged for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition aside from his drug charges.
Kris will be facing charges for violation of Sections 11 (illegal possession of dangerous drugs), 12 (illegal possession of drug paraphernalia, and 26 (conspiracy) of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
