A bullet pierced to the head ended the alleged notoriety of a teenage boy in Iloilo province.
Reymart Cinco alias Lupin, a resident of Barangay Talongadian, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo, was shot early morning of Jan 9, 2023 along the Circumferential Road at Barangay Pulo Maestravita, Oton.
Major Fernand Limbungan, Oton police chief, said Cinco claimed to be 17 years old, but there were reports indicating that he could be two years older than that.
A security guard of the nearby mall discovered his body slumped next to his Suzuki motorcycle (license plate FA 61745).
The security guard told police investigators that he was on duty when he heard gunshots around 12:13 a.m. Monday.
When he checked an area several meters from the mall, he found Cinco’s body. He immediately called for police assistance.
Members of the Oton Search and Rescue Team (OSART) took the victim to the Western Visayas Medical Center but he did not pull through.
Limbungan said they still have no suspect in Cinco’s death.
“We don’t have a witness to what happened. It appeared that he was waiting for or could be talking to someone when he was shot,” he said.
Investigators noted that the victim’s motorcycle was turned off when the incident happened.
Three fired cartridges of caliber .45 ammunitions were recovered from the crime scene.
Cinco recently hogged the headlines after he fled from the custody of Oton Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.
He was taken into the MSWDO’s care after he was rescued by tanod and village officials of Barangay Cagbang, Oton for curfew breach.
It was when he revealed to police authorities that he went on a burglary spree while under the tutelage of a handler.
Limbungan noted that Cinco is a notorious Akyat Bahay or burglary gang suspect operating in the province and city of Iloilo.
He was charged for several robbery incidents that transpired in the municipalities of San Miguel, Mina, Santa Barbara, Pavia, Batad, and Oton.
He was recently involved in a robbery at Anaros Subdivision in Mandurriao, Iloilo City on Dec. 31, 2022.
