BACOLOD CITY – A 20-year-old man has been apprehended with 35 grams of suspected shabu, valued at P285,000, during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tangub this past Tuesday.

Police Captain Portia Nillosan, commander of Police Station 5, identified the individual as a second-year high school student enrolled in the Alternative Learning System (ALS).

In the bust, authorities recovered 15 sachets of the suspected illegal substance, alongside P1,000 in marked bills and an additional P262 in cash.

According to Captain Nillosan, the arrest was the culmination of a month-long surveillance operation.

The suspect had come into the police’s radar after being tagged by other drug suspects within the jurisdiction of Police Station 5 as a purported source of drugs.

Initially, the transaction was planned for Barangay Granada but was shifted to Barangay Tangub at the suspect’s request, a move that set the stage for the sting operation that led to his capture.

The suspect now faces serious charges for the sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs.
