BACOLOD City – A 70-year-old woman died after she was sideswiped by an ambulance at Barangay 9, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as Angeles Arsalem, 70, of the said village.

Police Staff Master Sgt. Arnold Tadiaque, investigator of Kabankalan City Police Station, said the victim was crossing the street when she was hit by an ambulance of the local government of Sipalay City.

Tadiaque said the 29-year-old ambulance driver probably failed to notice the victim. But he said that the driver was driving at a normal speed when the accident happened.

The ambulance was on its way to Bacolod to bring a dialysis patient to a hospital along with a helper. They were unharmed, according to the investigator.

Tadiaque said the victim was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

He said there was already a settlement between both parties.
