AMID INTENSE HEAT: City Hall to install water, health stations at ports, terminal

The Iloilo City government will install water and health stations at the different ports and transport terminals in Iloilo City amid the intense heat wave this Holy Week.

Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) head Donna Magno said they are expecting the influx of passengers this Holy Week particularly at the Parola Wharf in City Proper district.

Hence, Magno said that they have requested the city’s bulk water supplier, Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW) to install a water station at the Parola Wharf to provide the passengers access to free drinking water.

“We are anticipating nga malaba ang pila sa Parola Wharf so we will be requesting the MPIW to set up a cistern tank at the Parola Wharf para maka-access sang drinking water ang mga pasahero. Kon mabudlayan sila, may kuhaan sila sang tubig,” she said in a media interview.

Aside from the water station, Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) head Jeck Conlu said that the city government will be installing health stations at the different transport terminals in Iloilo City.

“Upon the instruction of the mayor, we will install health stations manned by our City Health Office (CHO) and other personnel so that may ara kita responders sa area to respond sa mga emergencies,” he said in an interview.

A total of 17 ambulances from the City DRRMO, Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), Philippine Red Cross and other agencies will also be on standby at the different areas in the city in anticipation of any incidents.

The City DRRMO targets a safe and peaceful observance of Holy Week in the city amid the return of face-to-face activities after the almost three-year hiatus due to Covid-19.
