BACOLOD City – Police reported another fatality in a minibus accident at Sitio Docog-docog, Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.

John Jucher Segurado, 26, of the said village, passed away at a hospital several hours later, according to Police Lieutenant Ruby Aurita, deputy police chief of San Carlos City Police Station.

The accident happened when the minibus driven by 34-year-old Juditho Locsin encountered engine trouble on their way to a burial.

The bus then fell into a ditch that killed a 12-year-old girl and wounded her two relatives, who are now stable in a hospital.

Aurita earlier said the vehicle was overloaded as it exceeded the seating capacity of passengers, who are all relatives.

Aurita said that Locsin was released from police custody yesterday after the lapse of his 18-hour reglementary detention.

She said the families of the victims also decided not to pursue the filing of charges against Locsin, who is their relative.
