The future is bright for the Philippines’ Weightlifting scene.
After 17-year-old Vanessa Sarno’s two-gold medal campaign in the Asian Weightlifting Championship, another youngster impressed and delivered medals once again.
The 24-year-old Kristel Macrohon bagged two bronze medals in the same competition after a strong performance in the 76-kilogram women’s division.
Macrohon did enough in the women’s clean and jerk after lifting a total of 126 kilograms behind notable weightlifters in Kim Suhyeon of Korea and Zhang Wangli of China.
Meanwhile, in the total lift category, Macrohon scored a decent 225 kilograms total weight lifted to nab another bronze medal for the PH squad.
In just a span of three competing days in the prestigious tournament, the Philippines was able to haul seven total medals.
Meanwhile, the team’s top weightlifter, Hidilyn Diaz, already stamped her formal entry in the upcoming 2021 Tokyo Olympics after completing the five-qualifier rule.
