The Los Angeles Lakers are in prime position to repeat after a solid offseason by Rob Pelinka and the front office.
Rob Pelinka has managed to secure the duo of Lebron James and Anthony Davis for at least the next 3 years after the two superstars extended their respective contracts.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN first revealed the development after Klutch Sports CEO and owner Rich Paul told him about the deal.
“All-NBA forward Anthony Davis is finalizing a five-year, $190M maximum contract to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers, @KlutchSports CEO Rich Paul tells ESPN. The deal includes an early termination option prior to fifth season in 2024-2025. Deal could be signed as soon as today,” Tweeted Wojnarowski to report the agreement.
After LeBron James agreed to a two-year, $85-million contract extension to stay with the Lakers, Davis followed it up by signing a 5-year extension with a player option in the final year.
The purple and gold already boosted their roster in hopes of having a stronger case for a repeat after signing 6th Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell from rival Los Angeles Clippers, two-way shooter Wesley Matthews from the Milwaukee Bucks, emerging guard Dennis Schroder from the Oklahoma City Thunder and veteran center Marc Gasol from the Toronto Raptors.
