The Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH) in Antique has firmly denied allegations of medical malpractice reported by a vlogger in a video that has since gone viral on social media.
On March 2, 2024, the hospital released a statement clarifying that no medication error occurred with a female patient, contrary to the claims made by Gorabells Vlog, which has accumulated 12.1 reactions and 1.1 million views.
The controversial vlog featured a female patient who allegedly deteriorated after a nurse administered the wrong medication.
A man’s voice in the video claimed, “Here, because of the nurse’s mistake, my wife is paralyzed.”
He continued to describe how his wife was fine until she received an injection meant for another patient, alleging that the nurse’s haste led to the error.
“Yung kamay n’ya, kusang bumabaliko. Sa pagmamadali palagi ng nurse. Hindi nila alam kung ano ang tinuturok. ‘Di nila alam kung sinong pasyente sana. Forty-two years sana ‘yung tuturukan n’ya,” the voice said.
The video simultaneously showed a small-built woman who appeared unable to move her arms and legs.
However, ASMGH management countered these assertions, stating that the video was shot upon the patient’s admission to the Emergency Room, emphasizing the severity of her condition at that time.
The hospital affirmed, “The medication given to the patient was ordered by the attending physician based on the prescribed clinical practice guidelines, and it was also properly carried out by the on-duty nurse.”
Addressing the patient’s condition, the hospital noted significant improvement during her stay, leading to her discharge on February 28, 2024, at 8:26 P.M.
This improvement was further observed during a follow-up check-up on March 1, 2024, where she was advised to continue her medications at home.
ASMGH used this opportunity to remind the public of the responsibility that comes with social media usage, urging netizens to avoid making unfounded posts and to seek the truth before casting aspersions.
The hospital reassured the public that its staff and personnel are committed to providing the best possible care to their patients, living up to their mission to serve and care.
