Eighty-eight DepEd teachers from the 22 of the province of Antique have completed six sessions for the Cultural Mapping of the Province of Antique Project, including the final session on “Personalities and Institutions Domain” by Ms. Ricamela Palis of Artist PAR, Inc.
The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) led the training.
This final leg was held at Hotel Kinaray-a, San Jose de Buenavista, Antique on March 6, 2021.
The training sessions started with a face-to-face session last February 06, 2021, at Saint Anthony’s College, San Jose de Buenavista, Antique, with a discussion on the core concepts of cultural mapping, namely, culture, cultural heritage, and guides to conducting participatory cultural mapping.
From mid – February to March, the following training sessions were conducted:

Significant Personalities of Antique by Mr. Errol Santillan – Antique Consultant for Culture
After the six–week training, fieldwork activities for data gathering will commence, from which the activity will be assisted by the Municipal Tourism Officers of Antique. Furthermore, the UPV mentors and Antique consultants will be joining the group as they culturally map the mainland municipalities of Antique as well as its island territories. Mr. Jose Taton, Jr. and Dimple Rios are assigned to Southern Antique, while Mr. Sashah Dioso and Michelle Villavert will take charge of the Northern Antique municipalities.
A compendium and report will be the output of this project which will be submitted to the Provincial Government and the Department of Education – Antique, which will be utilized as core references for DepEd modules on Culture and IP Education.
