The United Architects of the Philippines Iloilo Chapter will be holding a charity fun-ride entitled “ArkiPadyak 2022”.
This year’s theme “One ride, One Dream, One Community” aims to bring people from all walks of life into our city to ride as one community. By doing this the group promotes bonding through cycling which they hope will help foster a better sense of community.
Being a charity event, participation in this event will contribute to the raising of funds to support the SOS Children’s Village, Zarraga. This center, which provides alternative care for orphans and neglected children, has been in existence since 2003.
They need funds to maintain their operations and joining this event is one way to donate to this cause.
Aside from being an alternative mode of transport, let us not forget also what cycling can bring to our health. This event also aims to promote cycling as a form of therapy and wellness- a factor to consider especially coming from the post-pandemic era.
The route will start from the capitol building and will pass through historic sites and streets such as Fort San Pedro, Jalandoni, and Molo Plaza to name a few.
Through cycling, one gets a better appreciation of the heritage and tourism spots of the city, an aspect that is lost when one is riding a car or PUV. Cycling can also raise awareness and appreciation of the heritage and tourism spots that the city can offer.
This event will happen on October 22, 2022, Saturday. Assembly time is 5:30 am and will ride out at 6:00 am.
