BACOLOD City – The Army’s 15th Infantry Battalion (IB) overran an alleged hideout of the New People’s Army (NPA) at Sitio Calagmakan, Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday.

This, after military troopers engaged in a 20-minute firefight with about 20 suspected members of the NPA’s Platoon 2, Sentro de Grabidad (SDG), South West Front (SWF).

The Army in a press release claimed undetermined casualties on the rebel side citing bloodstains left on their alleged escape trail.

Military troopers recovered after the encounter an improvised explosive device (IED), generator set, subversive documents, binoculars, office supplies, map, gasoline, electrical wires, teaching materials, food, cooking utensils, and other personal belongings.

The Army said that the lair located near the sitio could accommodate around 60 individuals.
