Ken Vincent T. Tandog, a BS Civil Engineering student at Aklan State University (ASU) – Kalibo Campus, won first place in the 28th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) held at STI College Kalibo on Oct. 25, 2024.
Tandog bested 26 other contestants from various colleges and universities in Aklan, including Aklan Catholic College (ACC), ASU Ibajay, ASU New Washington, Libacao College of Science and Technology (LCST), Northwestern Visayan Colleges (NVC), and STI College Kalibo. He was coached by Engr. Joel I. Molas.
Yeojhea Yvette R. Lachica, a BS Pharmacy student from Saint Gabriel College, took second place, while Ramon Chito M. Bautista, a BS Biology student from ASU – Main Campus, finished in third.
Winners received plaques of recognition, cash prizes, and tokens presented by Chief Statistical Specialist Antonet B. Catubuan of PSA Aklan, Supervising Statistical Specialist Rodelyn R. Panadero, and Statistical Specialist II Alyssa Mae D. Berlandino, who also served as judges.
The PSQ, conducted for first-year college students, promotes the importance of statistics in decision-making, policy development, and youth-focused initiatives.
This year’s quiz coincided with the 35th National Statistics Month, celebrated under the theme: “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation.”
