‘Twas not suicide.
Police have ruled out suicide in the death of a 13-year-old teen who was found hanging on a tree in Jordan, Guimaras last week.
Major Kennith Bermejo, Jordan police chief, said the post-mortem examination conducted by Dr. Owen Lebaquin indicated that the victim’s cause of death was injury on the back portion of his head.
“The victim suffered hematoma on the back of his head. He could have been struck with a hard object,” Bermejo said.
Blood clot was also found in the victim’s head.
The victim’s body was found Oct 26, 2021 near their house at Brgy. San Miguel, Jordan.
Nonoy (not his real name) is the youngest in the brood of four and had been living with his adoptive parents.
His family did not suspect foul play but claimed they had no idea that the boy had problems.
They even regarded him as a happy teenager.
“I insisted for the conduct of an autopsy just to rule any doubts since we saw a wound on the back of his head,” Bermejo said.
As this developed, police investigators have two to three persons of interest.
Bermejo said a dispute between the boy’s family and owners of adjacent lots could have triggered the incident.
Nonoy’s family has been herding goats and cattle which have been grazing beyond their property.
Bermejo said they would meet with possible witnesses so that they could file charges for murder in relation to Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act) against the suspects.
