BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is ramping up its security efforts for more than 260 foreign students expected to arrive between June and August.

The move is in response to a request from the Language Skills Learning Center (LSLC) for enhanced police visibility to ensure a safe environment for international learners.

BCPO will deploy regular patrols and establish police assistance desks in strategic areas, especially during nighttime hours.

The City Tourism Office met with BCPO and LSLC officials at the end of May to finalize safety protocols for the students’ arrival.

Police Lt. Col. Joery Puerto of the BCPO’s Police Community Affairs Division said 46 officers will be assigned to the initiative.

Puerto added that 24-hour roving patrols will be conducted at billeting sites.

He said police personnel will be visible on the streets and ready to respond to any situation.

The deployment will run for two months, starting June 29 until August 30, coinciding with the students’ stay in the city.

The foreign students, coming from South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and China, will be housed in areas including La Salle Avenue, North Drive, and 17th to 18th Streets.

Meanwhile, the BCPO has partnered with the Bacolod Express Service Office (BESO) to expand access to essential police services.

Starting June 2, National Police Clearance services are available at the BESO center on the third floor of Ayala Malls Capitol Central.

The service is open Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays.

This partnership is part of BCPO’s efforts to improve public service by offering accessible and community-oriented services in high-traffic locations.

The BCPO encouraged residents to take advantage of the initiative and reiterated its commitment to prompt and courteous service.
