Bacolod Celebrates 35th National Statistics Month Winners

Awarding of winners for the 35th National Statistics Month and Closing Ceremonies

The 35th National Statistics Month culminated in an awarding and closing ceremony held at GT 888 Mall in Bacolod City, hosted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Negros Occidental, in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). With the theme “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation,” the event underscored the critical role of statistics in various sectors, highlighting the impact of digital transformation on data-driven decision-making.

Atty. Janice Jade V. Tan-Canonigo, Deputy Director of BSP, addressed attendees, including students, coaches, and representatives from provincial agencies. She expressed gratitude to the PSA and partner agencies for their contributions to data and statistics, emphasizing the need for robust data to guide development and address issues across both private and government sectors.

In the junior high school statistics quiz, Bacolod City National High School secured first place, followed by Domingo Lacson National High School in second, and Sum-ag National High School in third.

The e-Poster Making Contest celebrated winners from various government agencies, with first place awarded to Elziakim B. Pegar of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), second place to Queenne F. Columna of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and third place to Agpad Seroll, also of DOLE.

For the Infographics Making Contest, Statistical Analyst Anna Carmela Gamilla announced University of Saint La Salle as the top winner, represented by Kyle Martin Gonzaludo and Maveriex Zon S. Lingco, with second place going to Beatrice Firmeza of the same university, and third place to Riverside College’s Rhea Mae Atenista.

Chief Statistical Specialist John F. Campomanes and Supervising Statistical Specialist Diesah S. Biaoco of PSA extended thanks to participants, agency partners, and judges for their support, expressing hope to see continued enthusiasm in future National Statistics Month celebrations.
