BACOLOD CITY (PIA) – Hitting close to half of the target population for vaccination at 44 percent, Bacolod City beefed up vaccination efforts as vaccination teams go house to house.
The Bacolod Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF) started the intensified house-to-house vaccination with seven priority barangays with the most number of COVID-19 cases.
EOC-TF executive director Em Ang said the vaccination effort is implemented in close coordination with the village chiefs and the respective Barangay Health and Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) of barangays Mansilingan, Taculing, Tangub, Estefania, Villamonte, Mandalagan, and Alijis.
“An intensified house-to-house vaccination will pave the way to herd immunity,” Ang said.
Meanwhile, EOC Deputy for Medical Data Management and Analysis Dr. Chris Sorongon urge vaccination teams to make house visits and vaccinate not only those who are bedridden, but also other qualified yet unvaccinated residents.
Data from the Department of Health Western Visayas – Center for Health Development showed that Bacolod City has fully vaccinated 43.90 percent or 180,285 adults and has partially vaccinated 12.57 percent or 51,619 adults as of November 7.
Bacolod City has 410,701 target population for vaccination and has unvaccinated population of 43.53 percent or some 178,797 adults. (PIA)
