Bacolod hosts 8th regional cooperative convention

THE Bacolod City Government, thru the City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office and the Bacolod City Cooperative Development Council (BCCDC), is currently hosting the 8th Regional Cooperative Convention and 2nd Visayas Climate Change Summit, May 23 to 26, 2019, at the SMX Convention Center.

More than 400 participants from Regions 6, 7, and 8 are attending the event, with the theme ONE Visayas: Nurturing and Empowering Resilient Cooperatives for Excellence.

The convention is in cooperation with the Cooperative Development Authority Iloilo Extension Office, Regional Cooperative Development Council (CDA) of Western Visayas, and the Provincial Cooperative Development Council of Negros Occidental.

Topics include the Philippine Cooperative Development Plan 2018-2020, the Joint Memorandum Circular between the CDA and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Cooperative Promotion, Organization and Development in LGUs, Environmental Summit, and the Best Practices of Federations/Cooperatives.

Keynote speakers include Secretary Emmanuel De Guzman of the Climate Change Commission, CDA chair Undersecretary Orlando Ravanera, as well as directors and representatives from various government institutions and NGOs.
