Interagency Task Force on COVID-19 Chief Implementer for the Visayas Melquiades Feliciano said Bacolod City is ready for the new normal by end-October.
In a press conference Monday, Feliciano said statistics indicate that COVID-19 cases in the city have been going down.
In the 3rd and last week of September, the average cases reached 50 while during the first and second week of October, the daily average cases went down to 25.
Feliciano, who has been staying in Bacolod for two months, now credited the establishment of the Emergency Operations Center for the containment of COVID-19.
“As of today, compared to 3 to 4 weeks before, we can say that the daily cases are going down.” he said.
Feliciano said the mortality has also lowered.
He said this is an indication that the EOC is doing right, adding that “we are having good results.”
Feliciano said the EOC has a plan in effectively implementing “intervention programs” to further ensure the containment of COVID-19.
“We are optimistic and confident that in the coming days, statistics will be lower,” he added.
But he also urged everyone not to be complacent.
Everyone has the responsibility, so let us not be complacent,” Feliciano said
Mayor Evelio Leonardia announced that as of Monday, the new COVID cases were down nine only, the first single-digit uptick in the past months.
He thanked Feliciano for his help in the city’ efforts to fight COVID-19.
