BACOLOD CITY – The Rotary Club of Bacolod and the Bacolod Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade recently held a blessing and turnover ceremony for the Laos Elementary School Multi-Purpose Covered Court in Sitio Laos, Barangay Binobohan, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
Past District Governor Edgar Sy, Club President Marjorie Dino, Past President and Club Secretary Frederick Anthony de Leon, Past President Pauline Cuaycong, President Nominee Edlyn Agraviador, and Rotarians Michael Gaerlan and Marilyn Dormido attended the event on Dec. 17, 2024, to formally witness the turnover of the project.
Guihulngan City Mayor Filomeno “Mikoy” Reyes, the guest of honor, delivered a keynote address, while Fr. Raymand Asoy officiated the blessing of the facility.
Also present were teachers and students of Laos Elementary School, parents, volunteers, and representatives from the Bacolod Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade.
The covered court is a product of the longstanding partnership between the Rotary Club of Bacolod, Past District Governor Edgar Sy, and the residents of Barangay Binobohan. It will serve as a venue for student sports programs and extracurricular activities.
The inauguration concluded with a children’s party and gift-giving activity organized by the Rotary Club of Bacolod. Beneficiaries included habal-habal drivers, parents, and teachers.
