BACOLOD CITY – The city government here is targeting to release an immediate financial assistance of P3,000 up to P5,000 through the “Bayad Agad” program, which is set to be launched soon.

Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez, in a media interview, said that the program is designed to expedite the releasing of the Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS).

The “Bayad Agad” program will be spearheaded by the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD).

Benitez said that usually those who need financial assistance, will take a few days, weeks, or even months to get the aid because of the long process in the government.

He said that they thought of a way to ensure that individuals in crisis will receive the cash assistance on the day that they visit the office.

Benitez said that there are those who asked for an assistance in January, but have yet to receive the aid.

“It takes forever for them to receive the financial assistance because of the requirements and the long process of the government. So we find a way to expedite it. No need to wait,” the mayor said, adding that it’s like an emergency fund.

The city government will issue guidelines to prevent others from abusing or taking advantage of the program.

The city can also track down recipients to avoid duplication.
