Police on Wednesday arrested the most wanted person of Balasan, Iloilo after hiding for 14 years.
Noe Azuelo, 45, was collared at his house at Barangay Salvacion, Balasan around 12:45 p.m.
Azuelo allegedly shot Chito Langreo at Salvacion village in 2016. The two had a misunderstanding prompting the suspect to kill Langreo with a 12-gauge shotgun.
Staff Sergeant Ramon Allan Elambre, Balasan police investigator, said they caught wind of Azuelo’s location in February 2020.
Since the case was more than a decade old, Elambre said they sought for an update from the court and an alias warrant of arrest was subsequently issued.
The suspect was collared for murder with the use of unlicensed firearm docketed as Criminal Case No. 2006-3498.
Judge Rogelio Amador of the Regional Trial Court Branch 66 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo issued the arrest warrant on March 17, 2020.
No bail was set for his temporary liberty.
Aside from being Balasan’s top most wanted man, Azuelo is also listed as the number 9 most wanted person in Iloilo province.
The suspect is now detained at the lock-up cell of Balasan Police Station.
