THE Philippines’ premiere ballet company, Ballet Philippines will have a six-part performance in Bacolod City in celebration of its 50th anniversary on July 9, 2019 at the University of Saint La Salle-Bacolod.
This performance called “Celebration: Ballet Philippines’ 50th Anniversary Outreach Tour” is under the Lakbay Sining Program of the CCP Cultural Exchange Department and in line with the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the CCP and the 40th year of its Outreach Program in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Negros Cultural Foundation, Inc.
NCF President Lyn Gamboa said that these milestones are reasons to celebrate and carry out exciting and meaningful programs throughout the year all over the country, including Bacolod, which has been a beneficiary of CCP’s outreach programs.
NCF, the organization that runs the Negros Museum, is a member of Kaisa sa Sining which is Regional Arts Centers of CCP.
Tanya Lopez, museum director also said that being a Kaisa sa Sining partner opens a lot of opportunities for artistic exchange and collaboration and audience development specially for the artists and the Negros community.
This 6-part performance of Ballet Philippines will include “Valse Fantasy”, a restage of Nonoy Froilan with the music of Mikhail Glinka, “Nocturne”, choreographed by Carlos Pacis with music by Felix Mendelssohn, “Vision of Fire” choreographed by Edna Vida and music by Ruben Federizon, “Langit Lupa” by Erl Emmanuel Sorilla and music by Amon Tobin and Dublex Inc., “Nutcracker Grand Pas De Deux” choreographed after Petipa and staged by Adam Sage and music by Pyotr Ilytch Tchaikovsky, and “Afterwhom” by Augusts Damian III and music by Jerrold Tarog.
Apart from the concert, Ballet Philippines will also have a masterclass or lecture-demonstration for local artists/dancers.
Gamboa is also inviting the public, especially the schools and art / dance enthusiasts to watch the performance as exposure to these kinds of performances are an important contribution to our children’s holistic development.
